Solar planning, made clear

Editorial policy

How we separate sources, assumptions and conclusions.

Prepared by Solar Panel CalculatorContent updated 2026-10-01Editorial standards

Source hierarchy

For tax and legislation we prefer the responsible government agency and enacted law. Utility tariffs and program administrator documentation take priority over generic summaries. EIA and location-specific solar modeling tools provide useful checks, but a state average cannot replace your utility plan.

No invented authority

We label model assumptions, hypothetical examples and unverified inherited data. We do not present an approximation as a current official statistic or invent an author’s qualifications, installation history or product test.

AI assistance and human review

This edition was prepared with AI assistance for code and explanatory drafting. AI-generated explanations can contain mistakes. No independent professional reviewer is claimed in this release unless a real reviewer is explicitly identified. Safety and legal decisions require qualified local verification.

Updates and corrections

Content dates identify changes to this edition, not proof that every linked program or inherited number was reverified on that date. Rate tables must record a reporting period and original source before being called current official averages. Material corrections should be added to the relevant page or methodology change record.

Advertising independence

Paid placements must be labeled and separated from calculator controls. We do not make a favorable financial estimate conditional on advertising clicks. Product comparisons should explain their basis and disclose commercial relationships.
